Level 1 is for those who have never danced before, who have danced but not recently, and for perfection and review of technique for dancers already familiar with belly dance. Level 1 includes two new moves per class and a review of the moves from the week before. Each week the previous moves are combined so you can learn how to transition and fit the moves together. The beginning and end of each class includes stretching and strengthening. The same material in Level 1 is repeated every session.
Level 2 is for dancers who already have a foundation in belly dance or who are ready for a greater challenge. In this class you'll learn new moves, variations of moves from
Level 1, simple combinations, partnering, working in small groups, review moves learned in Level 1, and start working with zills. Material for this class requires more than one session to cover and can be considered ongoing.
is for serious dancers and aspiring troupe members. A solid foundation of belly dance is required, including previous enrollment in Level 1 & 2 classes, as well as instructor approval. In level 3 you'll learn new combinations, partner and small group work, leading and following, chorus work & other manners of presentation, use of zills & props, improv, as well as nuances of each move and repetition of all basic moves learned in Level 1 & 2. A desire to perform is preferred, but not required!

What to Wear, Bring & Know for Class
This class is for all women and is a supportive & non-competitive environment. There is no age restriction, young girls under 13 are welcome to take classes along side their mothers or grandmothers. And there is no age that is “too old”, as belly dance is a gentle, non-impact workout and movements can be adjusted for the specific needs of each student. Belly dance is one of the safest dances on Earth! The many benefits include increasing strength, flexibility and posture. However, if you have any pre-existing health concerns please tell the teacher before you start class and take care of yourself, belly dance should never cause pain!

The most important thing is to be comfortable! Wear cloths that allow for movement ~ but that are fitted ~ yoga wear, work-out pants, skirts, tank tops or sports bras, all work fine. Please do not wear anything baggy such as T-shirts as it makes it difficult to see your posture and to adjust for correct positioning, alignment and movement. Show your belly as you feel comfortable!

The studio has wood floors and either barefoot or soft-soled dance shoes are best.

A scarf, belly dance hip scarf, or a coin belt are fun too! Coin belts create weight on the hips, jingle, and are fun to wear, and many find it easier to "feel" the hip movements while wearing a coin scarf.
Ask about resources on where to find a coin belt or hip scarf.

Please bring plenty of water!

Combination Class ~ Level 1 & 2
This class is for beginning dancers as well as for dancers with experience. Time is taken each week to break down moves in a thorough manner ~ simple and straight forward for complete beginners, yet detailed enough to provide a comprehensive review for advanced dancers. This class has a list of about 30 moves that are taught on an on-going basis. One 8-week session will cover approximately half of the list, more or less.
The class can be repeated as often as you'd like. The class also includes stretching and a brief warm-up. Students will also learn leading and following techniques in this class.
Classes are taught by Tracy Carlton, founder and director of Kundalini Belly Dance Tribe.
